As a result of Ontario's Basic Income Pilot program, certain individuals will receive a paper-based drug eligibility card (remember those?!?).

If you are a pharmacist in these cities, you may start seeing them again:
  • Hamilton, Brantford, Brant County (underway)
  • Thunder Bay, along with the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge, Township of Shuniah, Municipality of Neebing, Township of Conmee, Township of O’Connor, Township of Gillies (underway)
  • The town of Lindsay (fall 2017)

According to the government, these paper cards are a temporary measure.

More information about this Ontario Basic Income Pilot program can be found here:

P.S. it is worth noting that technically any pharmacist could start receiving a paper-based card, as the patient could fill their prescriptions anywhere
