Edward Gopok, owner of Trainer Drug Mart, has allegedly charged a higher than usual dispensing fee to a patient. Mr Larry Jaz filed the complaint with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. “I had a prescription to fill,” says Larry. “The listed dispensing fee was ten dollars so I gave them my prescription and started playing Pokémon Go on my phone while I waited.” According to Larry, the pharmacist working at the time was Gopok, and everything about the prescription had gone smoothly until Gopok started counselling Larry on his medication. “He was just talking about side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and then suddenly he stopped talking and just stared at my phone.” What happened next is open to contention, as Gopok’s lawyers have denied it occurring. “He (Gopok) asked me if I was on team ‘Instinct’, one of the three Pokémon teams you can join and I said yes. Then he asked me if I was the one coming daily to defeat the Pokémon gym right beside his pharmacy. I told him there was only a weak CP525 Charmander guarding the gym so I kept defeating the Pokémon with my CP2000 Vaporeon.” Apparently, the pharmacist then started yelling at Larry, and shouted phrases like “Instinct is the worst” and “not even a real Pokémon team...” and called Larry a “backwards inbred Pokénoob” for defeating Gopok’s Charmander. Finally, Gopok said that he would not dispense Larry’s medication unless he paid a dispensing fee of twenty five dollars, which included a ten dollar surcharge for being on the wrong Pokémon team, and a five dollar surcharge for disrespecting Gopok’s Charmander. When asked to comment on the incident, Gopok only said “I was defending team Mystic’s honour.” Gopok is scheduled for his hearing on September 25, 2016.
